How many different styles of fence are there?

There are many different styles of fences. Some of the most popular are:

  • Vinyl fences are relatively new to the fence industry. Vinyl fences come in many of the same styles as wood fence. This product is very easy to maintain.
  • Wood fences come in a variety of styles, such as stockade, flat board, estate, paddock, picket and split rail.
  • Chain link fences can be vinyl coated or galvanized and could have plastic slats inserted for adding privacy.
  • Aluminum and Steel fences can look much like the old wrought iron fences. These fences are often ornamental by design.

There are many factors that affect the life of a fence, including local climate, soil conditions, and the materials used, to name a few. You can expect a properly installed fence will last a long time, as long as it is appropriately maintained. Your Anderson Fence professional should be able to help you decide which type of fence serves your needs best.

A chain link fence with black or green vinyl fabric and a black frame is generally considered the best solution that will least obstruct your view. Anderson Fence also specializes in custom built kennels.

Yes. All estimates are free. We will come to your property to take measurements and discuss fencing design options. We will then provide a free estimate for the project.

Property owners are responsible for securing any permits required, and for knowing rules/regulations specific to the property location. This includes any HOA regulations and requirements. We are happy to assist property owners with the permit application when requested.

At this time we accept cash, check, or credit cards. We require a 1/3 deposit when a contract is accepted, with the remaining balance due at completion. There is a 3.5% Credit Card Fee when paying your balance due by credit card.

At this time we do not provide any financing.
We serve the Eastern Shore of Maryland, Sussex County, Delaware, and the Eastern Shore of Virginia.
Yes. We clean up all areas that were affected by the installation of the fence to keep your yard beautiful. We will rake and spread the dirt around the post holes that we dug when installing your fence.
Yes. Due to the sandy soil on the Shore we set all of our fence posts in concrete or sakrete. The only exception is for wood split rail posts. These posts are large and heavy and do not settle.
No. Never. We provide Free Estimates. And we never utilize pressure sales tactics. We schedule a visit to your home at a time convenient for you to discuss fence options and to take measurements of your property. Then we email you a formal proposal for you to review quietly and privately at your leisure.

A new fence is a significant investment and we want the installation to be done accurately and professionally.  You have an important role in this process and therefore we highly recommend the following.

  1. Know where your property lines are located. If you do not know a surveyor can usually locate your property corners for a reasonable fee.
  2. We always send in a Miss Utility ticket to locate any public utilities in your property such as public power lines, cable, telephone, and public water & sewer lines. Unfortunately Miss Utility will not locate any private lines you may have such as propane gas lines, septic fields, well water & irrigation lines, an invisible fence and private electric lines, to name the most common private utilities.  It is the homeowners responsibility to identify these private utilities before we arrive to install the fence.  If you need assistance our salesperson may be able to provide you the name of a person or company in your area who can assist you with this locate.
  3. If you live in a community with an HOA you should proactively request a review and approval from your HOA before contracting for a fence.
  4. Your County or Town may require a fence permit. Please verify with your local government if a permit is required.  Our salesperson can possibly advise you if a permit is needed in your area.

Anderson Fence provides a one-year Workmanship warranty for the fences we install.  Your fence posts should never settle or lean.  In the highly unlikely event that it does, we will rectify this for you.

Most of our vendors provide a Limited Lifetime Warranty for the materials we install.  This warranty is typical for chain link, vinyl, and aluminum fences.  Because wood is an organic material, its longevity is impacted by conditions in your yard.  Two common factors that impact wood’s longevity are standing water and insects, with the most common wood item impacted being the wood posts in the ground.  All of the wood we install is pressure-treated and the pressure-treated wood posts historically lasts many years without an issue, but it is impossible to predict due to the variables.

A key exception to all warranties are Acts of Nature (storms) and/or damage inflicted by others.
